It’s no surprise that e-cigarettes are slowly taking over the globe, with many people now fully aware that it’s the number one best thing to help quit smoking (or at least, turn to a healthier alternative). As always, there’s much speculation and concern revolving around e-cigarettes and with that comes inaccurate facts and figures, making e-cigarettes look worse than smoking!
So, before you get told by anyone who doesn’t understand the benefits of vaping, here are some surprising facts that you may find interesting if you’re looking to gain a better understanding of vaping, or you’re interested in making the change!
1. E-cigarettes and other vaping devices are NOT risk-free
Despite the vast majority of the public and health professionals claiming that e-cigarettes are less harmful than smoking, no ‘conclusive’ evidence has appeared yet.
2. Nicotine or no nicotine – the choice is yours!
People who don’t know too much about the functions of e-cigarettes jump to conclusions and believe that all e-cigarettes contain nicotine.
Not true, at all.
In fact, e-cigarettes are so multi-functional and accessible that you can vape without a drop of nicotine! In some respects, it acts as a nicer shisha pipe. Some even vape for the novelty and vast array of flavours. Truth be told, there are many reasons why people vape, it isn’t simply to stop smoking.
3. It’s becoming one of the biggest events in the world
If you haven’t already, go and check out my article on the top vape exhibitions across the globe, there are some fascinating events that both vapers and non-vapers should check out!
4. Vaping isn’t just for people quitting smoking
Like I stated previously, vaping isn’t simply exclusive to people looking to quit smoking. In fact, vaping has become quite the hobby for many young people in the form of cloud competitions. These competitions can take place anywhere, so long as you have a table and two vapers! The point of cloud competitions is to see who can blow the biggest cloud out of their e-cigarettes.
It’s also somewhat of a fashion trend, with popular celebrities such as Drake, Johnny Depp and Leo DiCaprio all opting for the vape switch! Take a look at who Drake bought his custom-built e-cigarette from… It’s quite the story!
5. YouTube vaping channels hit 1 billion views
Vaping has become massive on YouTube, gaining over 1 billion views worldwide (if not more). Channels such as Maskit Vape, IndoorSmokers, GrimmGreen and Rip Trippers collectively have over 2.1 million subscribers and that’s just naming a few! These channels discuss vaping kits, mods, reviews, flavours, comparisons and general e-cig information.
6. Vaping kits/mods/e-cigarettes come in various shapes and sizes

So, if you’re one for making a scene, someone who likes to have all the new gadgets and tech, e-cigarettes are fully customisable. There really is no limit with what you can do!
7. They’re not as complicated as you think
While they might appear quite complex at first glance, e-cigarettes actually have a wide range of kits available. These range from the absolute beginners, to the more advanced users, making vaping accessible to everyone. If you really are scared of starting your e-cigarette journey, why not begin with a cigalike instead?
8. There are over 50,000 flavours to try out
Yes, you heard right! The vaping world has over 50,00 flavours currently on offer and that number has already grown while you’ve been reading this! From strawberry to crab-flavoured e-liquids (seriously, if you don’t believe me, check out my article on the worst e-juice flavours of 2017) you are sure to never run-out of choice!
9. They cost half the price (if not more) than cigarettes
I’m sure almost everyone is aware how cheap e-cigarettes are in comparison to smoking. Look at it this way, a pack of twenty cigarettes will cost you around £15-25, whereas one good e-cigarette (the Innokin Oceanus Kit for example) costs you £59.99 and will last you years (unless you misuse it or break it).
You’d make your money back within the first few cigarette packets, so why would you not at least give it a go?
10. You can’t smoke indoors, but you can vape!
In almost all pubs and restaurants, vaping is a fair practise due to the fact the vapour evaporates almost immediately. This makes vaping immediately more sociable, as opposed to smoking which was banned from indoor environments in 2007 because of health concerns and being generally unsocial.
